Trainers: Eleonora Fors Szuba and Emma Friberg (Sweden)

10 October 2015, 14:00-17:30

GENDERDOC-M Information Centre, 72/1 Valeriu Cupcea Street, Chișinău

The GENDERDOC-M Information Centre, The Unstraight Museum and Östergötlands Museum (Sweden) are pleased to invite you to take part in the Unstraight Perspectives Workshop held Saturday, 10 October, at the GENDERDOC-M Information Centre (72/1 Valeriu Cupcea Street, Chișinău).

The Unstraight Perspectives is an extensive cooperative project run between several museums and local LGBTQI* communities in both Sweden and abroad with the goal to highlight what form exhibitions with an unstraight perspective can take. The Swedish museums involved in this project are The Museum of World Culture, Gothenburg; The Museum of Work, Norrköping; The Swedish History Museum, Stockholm; and Östergötlands Museum/ Computer Museum, Linköping. The reason behind this project is that that there’s an unstraight perspective to everything! Besides collecting unstraight stories worldwide, which will be later added to The Unstraight Museum’s database, an important part of this project is to take under consideration the specifics of every museum partner so they can develop, produce and execute exhibitions for their institutions along with an educational platform.

Unstraight Perspectives in Moldova

The part of the Unstraight Perspectives taking place in Moldova has the Computer Museum as a partner. The main purpose of the project is to create understanding for human rights and for the right of every individual to be represented in the common history. Our focus is to strengthen the bonds between museum professionals and NGOs working with LGBTQI issues and pedagogy in Moldova and to provide an international unstraight perspective to the situation.

The workshop aims to address LGBTQ identities and history writing as a method of democratisation with the purpose of creating understanding of human rights and the right of every individual to be represented in the common history.

Participation is free. The ideal participants would be arts professionals, arts students, museum professionals, civic activists, teachers, educators, youth workers, LGBTQI people and everyone else interested in the subject.

Working language is English. Interpretation to Romanian or Russian will be provided on demand.

The workshop is held within the Coming Out Days 2015 organised by GENDERDOC-M Information Centre. Should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Artiom Zavadovschi, LGBT Community Development Programme Coordinator at GENDERDOC-M Information Centre, at artiom.zavadovschi@gdm.md or 022 28 88 61.
